Color Calibration PDF Print E-mail
How do I get my prints to match what I see on my monitor?

You can take the following steps to help make the colors on your monitor more accurately match the colors on your print. Monitors vary in their ability to maintain their calibration over the same period and some monitors display more generally accurate colors than others.

CRT monitors produce more accurate colors than flat-panel LCD monitors. That being said, by following the steps below, you should attain a reasonable satisfaction in regard to color matching. You may find your own level of satisfaction only after conducting several print
tests using the same monitor and printer combination.

The color target image is for evaluating your monitor's quality and calibration as well as the match between the monitor and printer.

Please refer to your operating system's manual on how to calibrate your monitior.
  • Calibration will include basic color and hue settings along with proper color temperature settings.
  • Download our color target file.
  • Save this file from the link below to your hard drive. The file is tagged with AdobeRGB 1998 ICC profile. When you open the reference file with Adobe Photoshop, make sure that your color pererences are set to "US Prepress Defaults"
  • Now copy the color target file on to a disk and bring it in to FAST FOTO for printing. There is much to do about color management. Without expensive software and color measurement tools, this will produce FAST FOTO & digital outputs predictably, and very close to what you view on your monitor.
The color target image is sharp-- and should give you a good idea of what to expect from an excellent digitized image printed at a pixel per inch magnification of your choice. Color balance and tonalities should look good if your monitor is properly calibrated.
